Three Big Things Happening at FarAway Headquaters

It's been a while since we've updated recent news and if you haven't heard about the goings on, they have been pretty incredible.

We now have a drummer!  His name is Shaun Rodgers and he's been an amazing addition to our group.  We have upcoming shows at O'Connells in Old Town Alexandria July 3rd and World Of Beer in Arlington August 2nd coming up with him behind the set!

We will have a song on TV this fall!  Our song "Long Drive Home" was selected to be on the PBS show "Roadtrip Nation" and will be used in the final episode this fall.

We got engaged!  On top of our music career, we are currently planning our wedding happening this October!

In the mean time, thank you all who have been making it out to shows, for supporting the Garber Family in April and just asking how we're doing.

The 9 Songwriter Series: A Benefit for the Garbers RESCHEDULED for APRIL 21st!

If you can only make it to ONE show this year, THIS is the show to come to.  Not only are we playing at Jammin Java with some incredible songwriters and Grammy winners, but all the proceeds and love go to the Garber family in their time of need! It really is a KILLER line up which includes Justin Trawick, Cathy Fink & Marcy Marxer, Luke Brindley, Michael Clem, Todd Wright, Kevin Dudley, Victoria Vox and US!
Founded in 2008 by singer/songwriter Justin Trawick, "The 9 Songwriter Series" is a touring songwriter collective and live show based in Washington, DC. The show was created with the idea of nine artists getting together and combining their talents in order to play in nicer clubs and to larger amounts of people. Each installment features nine solo singer/songwriters performing together in a unique and captivating format, telling stories, and often sitting in each each other and making up music on the spot.  Where else can you hear almost 30 songs from nine different artists in one evening and often for only $20? To date, over 200 different artists have participated in "The 9", at shows in DC, Baltimore, Annapolis, Philadelphia, New York, Fairfield, Boston, Richmond, Charlottesville, Charlotte, Atlanta, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
This really is going to be an amazing event and you don't want to miss it! Tickets are selling fast so make sure to get yours HERE before they are gone!

January Stories and Shows!

The Holidays were quite the whirlwind for us, but we're ready to go for 2014 and have some great shows lined up!
First, you can catch us this Saturday (1/18) at Ebenezer's Coffeehouse telling the stories behind our songs, along with host Tiffany Thompson and DC native Phillip Noss. This is a FREE show, but a tip jar will be passed around and they sure are appreciated!
Next, on January 30th we will be playing at the DC Hard Rock Cafe with Driven to Clarity and The Raised by Wolves! This is a charity event that supports PinkJams and breast cancer awareness, so we hope to see all of you there!

November Newsletter Recap

It's starting to get chilly outside and the threat of snow is lingering in the air! That can only mean one's time for your Holiday Party! Did you know that we can be hired to play music at YOUR holiday event?! There isn't much we love more than playing private events, and we already have FOUR, yes, that's right, FOUR weddings booked already for next year! You can check out more info here and shoot us an email with any questions!

Remember when we were begging for you votes to get us featured in Deli Magazine? Well, we didn't win, but they still wrote a GREAT article about us and our show at the Hamilton, and we were on the front page of the blog for a week! You can check out that article here:

We had wonderful shows at both the NOVA BrewFest AND The Hamilton, and we want to give a BIG thanks to everyone who came out to see us (especially our super fan Christopher, who drove all the way from Richmond to show his support!). A fellow musician/photographer friend of ours, Stefanie Ambrose, was kind enough to come out and take some photos of our show at the Hamilton. Check out one of favorites below! You can check out more of her work on her blog:

Last, but certainly not least, we will be doing a mini (very, very mini) tour in December! We'll be heading to Borjo Coffeehouse in Norfolk on December 3rd and we will play from 7pm-9pm! The show is free and they have a great menu with some wonderful craft beers, and it will be a great place to study for those finals!
We will then go to Richmond to play at The Camel with our friend Paulo Franco and another headlining act, which is TBD (but it will be FABULOUS!). That show will be Wednesday, December 4th at 9pm and there will be a $5 cover to get in. We are hoping for another show on December 5th, so keep your eyes and ears out for that annoucement!

Stay warm, and don't drink too much pumpkin coffee. You might turn into one.
